Objectives

The objects for which the Heraldry Society of Africa is established are:


a) Promoting the study of heraldry and encouraging its correct use in Uganda, Africa and Overseas, promoting greater interest in heraldry among Africans;
b) Promoting the establishment in Africa of a Africa Heraldic Authority;
c) Promoting the preservation, security and accessibility of relevant archival and other materials;
d) To advance the study of genealogy, heraldry and family history;
e) To find, publish, and make accessible relevant documents and records;
f) To promote the preservation of these documents and records, especially by
transcribing original sources;
g) To collaborate with organisations and bodies who have custody of records;
h) To operate an information service and build up a library;
i) The society is a non-profit organization and may therefore not distribute profits among its members;
j) The society endeavours to realize its objects by organizing international congresses and publishing (research) reports, as well as by all other lawful means that may be conducive to the realization of the objectives;
k) The Society has no political or religious character and shall refrain from any activities in these areas;
l) To dray, make, accept, endorse, discount, execute and issue cheques, warrants,
debentures and other negotiable or transferred instruments;
m) To procure the society to be registered or recognized in any other state and by any foreign country or place.
n) To enter into arrangements with any international bodies, governments or authorities, national bodies, public Organisations, corporations, companies, firms or persons that may seem conducive for the attainment of the company’s authority in any charters, contracts, decrees, rights, privileges and concessions which the company may think desirable as per its objects;
o) To do any and all lawful acts and thins as are incidental or conducive to, suitable, useful, desirable or proper for the development, advancement, promotion, fostering or accomplishment to the aforesaid, directly or indirectly.
